Sam apologised to Dexter, so he knew he was rude. I'm sure they will talk tomorrow, but to be honest they've never been close. I don't expect them to be best friends any time soon.

No he hasn't really, but that's not the issue here, sam has a hard time interpreting and processing multiple conversations, and he hasn't made an error like this.
I find it really ignorant of dexter to be so blase and to fob sam off with ' I misheard you'.
