Default Daily Mail say the CBB7 launch ratings were RUBBISH!

HUGE HEADLINE IN THE DAILY MAIL:

Celebrity Big Brother launch night beaten in the ratings by (wait for it)... The Antiques Roadshow
Quote:
It was billed as the most explosive Celebrity Big Brother series ever.
But the live launch of the show's much-hyped final series was trumped by Fiona Bruce and her colleagues on the gentle Antiques Roadshow, it has emerged.

The Channel 4 programme managed an average of 5.8million viewers - 300,000 fewer than BBC1's flagship Sunday night show, despite the relatively unremarkable items being featured.

Big Brother executives had hoped there would be controversy and arguments caused by putting in two men who are most famous for dating model Jordan. The pair, supposedly, had come to blows on New Year's Eve at a party at her Surrey house.

But, unfortunately for desperate TV bosses, both men - former teen pop star Dane Bowers and cross-dressing cage fighter Alex Reid - promptly denied they had fought at all, saying Mr Bowers had been attacked by two unknown men while waiting for a taxi.

And to prove the point, the pair - who had been the subjects of downmarket newspapers for days - were even filmed in the house hugging each other.

Speaking in the diary room, Mr Bowers, who was sporting a bruise on his forehead that had been covered with make-up, dismissed the alleged incident.
He said: 'I don't think it's worth getting into that exactly. Just because Alex and I were in the same vicinity, Alex's name was brought into it as well and suddenly it turned into me and Alex fighting.'
It was just one of many disappointments for Channel 4.

They had been desperate for this year's show to go out with a bang, spending huge sums on celebrities to appear after it was announced this will be the final series, following steadily declining ratings in recent years.
One of the most high profile was Ekatarina Ivanova.

But when she was asked about her turbulent relationship with Ronnie Wood and her decision to enter the house, the 21-year-old simply shrugged her shoulders before replying: 'He's still a friend, so supports it'.

Sunday night's opening show pulled in slightly more viewers than last year's launch, but still lost out Antiques Roadshow, which drew 6.1million when it was shown an hour earlier at 8pm.
And the numbers were still way down from the highest ever figures of 8.8million, which came at the height of the race row between Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty and Jade Goody in 2007.

I agree with the article! The show flopped. It was the least watched launch of CBB EVER according to share %. It didn't even beat Antiques Roadshow! It was way down from what it was getting 3 years ago, and nowhere near 8.8m.

The Daily Mail has got it spot on. CBB7 is set to be a huge failure. I predict tonight's show was MILLIONS lower than the launch.

5.8 million!? That's a huge number for BB now that it's in its final hour.

Actually BB got 5.8m. C4+1 shouldn't be included.

BBC HD or iPlayer aren't included in BBC1's ratings. So that's the fair way to go about it.

Face it- BB can no longer pull in mass audiences. Lower than Antiques Roadshow, lol!

Big Brother and Antiques Roadshow both have two completely different demographics? The two are meaningless to each other, no matter what beats what.

No, it only got 5.8m on Channel 4.

The WORST share for a live CBB launch ever!

Why shouldn't +1 be included, it was on TV within the hour still?

Everything was lower than Antiques Roadshow yesterday, was everything on yesterday a flop?

6m is a mass audience, not even ITV manage that very often anymore outside the soaps.

BB practically doubled the BB10 final rating and recovered brilliantly after 2 major meltdowns in a row, hardly to be sniffed at.

Exactly.

But because there's no live feed, BB is automatically rubbish, right?

Even when you're looking at it through the Daily Mail's eyes, it was still the second most watched show of the day. But who gives a **** what they think?

I can't see why people on here are so negative about BB. I've lost count on how many times Ive said this to the OP, but 'GET A LIFE'.

Well, BARB don't even add them up. They keep the two ratings separate. Look at their website.

I don't know why you guys are adding the ratings up together?! There'll be some people who watched the show twice. And the BBC don't add ratings up, nor do ITV.

It is not too bad.
All things considered.

The last BB regular season was horrible AND at the same time the program has 'run its course' naturally (so to speak),
so,
I suppose the ratings would have been much lower if not for one bigger mitigating factor and that is the 'last hurrah' viewers.
I admit to being one of them,
and,
not even going to put a lot of that sentimental 'last look' into CBB either.
A little bit.

I think you might see a fairly decent rating on those last few episodes and from a lot of us who will just enjoy a 'last look' and a sort of 'good-bye'.

(actually CBB is doing even better (so far) than I would have expected even considering the 'last hurrah' factor!)

People were expecting BB to come top yesterday as it had loads of media coverage. None of the other programmes yesterday apart from football had much press coverage.

At the end of the day, the stats show that it was the least popular live launch ever according to %.

Unfortunately live feed has got to do with this. Axing live feed means ppl dont wanna watch the show.

FFS!

Why are you so negative when it comes to BB?

You always try and bring the mood down and make everyone sad thinking BB and you would shut up about your predictions for the launch getting horrible ratings, When infact you were well off because they got amazing ratings.

If people don't want to watch it then it wouldn't have had the most viewers since the BB8 launch. Screw the percentage share, thats because the other channels had big shows on too.

The rest of the press are praising the show, its just the Daily Mail.

Well lets be honest, its been on a day.

One newspaper is making bollocks up trying to make it look like no one watches BB.

Its not excactally every newspaper saying this series is ****.

If its one newspaper after 1 day on air.

If anything its recived positivity.
