Default Sex in the media

Porn/lads mags plastered all over shops, easy access to porn on the internet, typical 'hot girls with no clothes on' in music videos and the like, etc...

What are your opinions on it?

Is it affecting children and our society as a whole? Should we be cutting back and having more censors and rules in place to stop it?

No need for censorship really.

Except possibly on very graphic images/videos.

Sex is natural...

Some people argue that it's sexualised too much, to the point in which it's not real, that young people are being 'brainwashed' into believing that they must look/act like certain celebrities, and that it probably adds to the increase of underage sex.

I don't really care myself, though. Don't see why anything should be done about it. Thought I'd spark up a debate nevertheless.

Sex is natural, yes, but we live in an era where it's just been used as some kind of commodity or advertising tool, with the actual real, intimate beauty of the act being lessened.

Natural doesn't mean it has to be in your face all the time. It spoils it, takes the mystery out of it. Too much of something, whatever it is, just becomes boring! Kids just think it is cool to talk about it all the time - they think it makes them all grown up. So they will always say they want more of it!

That's quite a generalising comment, though.

No, I disagree with censors completely. If you do not like something do not watch it and if you don't want kids to see it don't let them watch it either. Simples.

Nevertheless - usually true! Also those that talk about it most, are usually getting it least! Those getting it, don't need to talk about it all the time!

On the matter of influence, blaming the media is just a scapegoat for poor sex education and knowledge of it. Teens have had sex before the media came along the best that could be done is to teach them how to use contraception properly.

Complete parental control is an impossibility in today's age. When our parents were young it was simply a case of switching off the tv or sending them to bed, but today sex sells in every area of the media and can be seen everywhere and at anytime. Our culture embraces vice and promotes it rigorously, on anything from bus advertisements to magazines... you name it and there's sex involved, even if its just on a subliminal level.

What kid doesnt enjoy walking into the Sweet Shop and seeing a pair of tits on the Magazine Rack?

Its great lol
I walked in one day and Sophie was on the cover of Nuts

Tbh theres nothing wrong with it, I love how cool the UK is with stuff like this where as I heard in USA Papers its crazy to show a girls tits

But to us its normal.

Its not as if the kid isnt going to see a pair of tits on the internet or somthing.

I was in the shop ages ago after school and I was trying to get served but this wanker was taking forever, but anyway this kid walked in with his mum and he was about 8 and his mum was looking a Cards or somthing in the back, and the little dude had an ice cream cone and it was melting on his fingers.
So he opened the DS and drew over the girls nipples with Ice Cream lol
His mum walked back so embarressed

Just a little story I thought I would share.

Fair point, but have you not thought that children are usually naturally curious about the world and the things in it, and so will talk about it more?

Once thirteen, I really don't believe anyone talks about sex to look 'cool'.

I just think it's sad that after all the decades of struggles that women have endured to be accepted as equals in all areas of life, they are still treated as nothing more than sex objects. I can't see there ever being true equality whilst we still exploit and degrade women.

No problem with it aslong as noones being exploited in the process, children need more education on sex (real life sex, not porn sex) and relationships though
