According to the Daily Star, singer Amy Winehouse has been approached to appear in the upcoming series of Celebrity Big Brother on Channel 5.

According to the newspaper, which is owned by Channel 5′s Richard Desmond, Amy Winehouse is “considering an offer” to star in the new series of Celebrity Big Brother this summer. The newspaper believes that producers of the show believe the “gobby singer would make sparks fly” when Big Brother re-launches on Channel 5 this August.

The Daily Star prints that an insider said that Winehouse has been “sounded out” by series producers, and added that: “Amy is definitely near the top of the show’s wish-list of potential housemates.”

However, Winehouse, 27, is currently in London’s Priory Clinic. Reports suggest that she checked herself in, following medical advice. Winehouse has had previous stints in rehab clinics, and has a well-documented history of alcohol and drug problems. Amy is currently scheduled to appear in a European mini-tour next month.

Her spokesman said: “She wants to be ready for performances in Europe this summer and decided to seek an assessment. She will remain at the Priory on doctors’ advice.” Her spokesman added that Amy had “no plans at the moment ” to enter the CBB House
