whats your thoughts on the whole 5 year madelaine search campaign?

personally I was always amazed how it became such a tabloid event, lead by celebrity detectives, of course david beckham had to be involved, then the parents meeting the Pope during the weeks after she disappeared etc

Did all this help or hinder their chances of finding the girl?

Im far more old fashioned and would have preferred a professional forensice, low key police detective hunt. My theory is, if she was stolen away, then the scum who took her, would never have handed her over or set her free, with the entire world watching. the whole hype would surely have scared him to death and made him think, Im never going to give her up or let them know where she is.

this is one major reason why detective hunts are not celebrity lead and are usually low key, collecting the evidence and interviewing key witnesses and joining up the dots

theres no exact pattern, perhaps the parents were so desperate theyd try anything, perhaps as was hinted they had no confidence in the police involved, but it all seemed very strange. the more tabloid it became, the worse the police seemed to get and the farther away they seemed to get from tracing the evidence.

I for one, after watching all documentarriess, still found it unclear exactly what happened and how far away madelaine and the kids were from the parents at the time of the alleged kidnapping

I kind of agree with what you are saying,the thing I find hard to conceive is the fact both parents went for a meal and left the children with no babysitter,which i believe were available on the complex,how on earth could you sit down and enjoy a meal knowing your kids were alone,i dont care that they were asleep,anything could have happened,and although I feel deeply sorry for the parents,something deep down tells me it's their own fault,and i do think the media frenzy harmed the chances of finding her as whoever took her(IF they did)would hide even more.I just feel for Madeleine,she is exactly the same age as my daughter and I just know i couldn't go on if anything like that happened to her.

There are many rumours circulating with regard to the Maddie McCann story, from her being snatched by a Paedophile ring to her being accidentally killed by her parents. It is a desparately sad story and one I fear that will never have a happy ending.

The Police investigations especially the initial Portuguese one were full of errors and the subsequent British Police involvement did not help matters and threw up more questions than answers. Add to this the Press involvement and the private investigations we end up with a very complex case with large amounts of conflicting evidence.

Will we ever see Maddie again , probably not, did her Mother or Father accidentally kill her (perhaps by giving her too large a dose of sleeping pills ??) unlikely but still a possibility. As I said earlier a desparately sad story with no happy ending.

I would, like millions of others love to know the real events of that fateful night , I think little Madeline deserves at least that much...!!!

she was certainly drugged ,Goncalo Amaral the detective thinks Maddie fell behind sofa ,as the blood dog found spots of her blood there, when they took up some of the floortiles more blood was found ,but whilstever they are getting the backing they are getting Maddie can never RIP

Reprehensible speculation, innuendo and hearsay with absolutely no basis in fact whatsoever. It makes me laugh at the choice of photographs on these ridiculous websites. They have obviously searched hundreds of images and chosen those that make the McCanns look like villains. That’s the very first thing that makes me question the validity of these sites.

I hope one day that the truth does come out, and if it turns out that the McCanns are innocent as I suspect them to be (just an opinion, I’m not going to pretend to be privy to any kind of information that others apparently claim to be in possession of in order to support my own view) I hope the people who created the websites quoted on here are prosecuted for libel with the full force of the law.

What she advised not to answer by her lawyer? did she have a lawyer? How was the lawyer's English? How was Mrs McCann's Portuguese? Was the interview conducted in English or Portuguese?

That being said (and I hope they had nothing to do with it, that thought is just horrific) The fact that they would leave 3 very young kids home alone while they went out for a meal (and don't forget the twins were a year youger again than Madeline) is strange and irresponsible to say the least. Children that young are extremely likely to wake during the night and far too young to be alone, day or night.

The only night the children were left alone was on the 3rd May, and only then to get an alibi ,without admitting to neglect they could not have claimed abduction, the only people who have ever claimed Maddie was abducted were the McCanns

Yes i agree, they also set up a LIMITED COMPANY,not charity as people think within 6 DAYS of Maddies demise,money being used to pay PR campaign, media lawyers and pay their mortgage,the hired and still use Carter Ruck ,the top law firm in Uk ,why would you need this type of lawyer in a "missing child"case ? Gnl Pinochet used them to stop his extradition, what parents head would be clear enough to do this ?they also never even searched for her on the first night, claiming it was dark and went to bed at 3 in morning

I hope that there is the chance that Madeline is found alive, although it has been too long she has been missing that you cannot help wondering if someone has killed her?

There has been tons of help for the McCann's and I wish this was the case for other families who have had a loved one go missing or had more high profile coverage, but understand there is only so much stretching of resources the authorities can do...
