I don't think they are close age-wise. I would guess he's in his 30s and she is in her 50s? It is an odd friendship but, from what he said about her in the diary room, it is genuine and they have become very close. I hope we see more of it.

I think there is more depth to Daniel than people give him credit for - we have definitely seen different layers to his personality.

The way he talked about her tonight was really sincere

I had no idea he felt that way, it was nice to hear that side of him.

There must be a friendship between them or he wouldn't have said it like that.

We are not seeing their friendship much in the edit, because the edit concentrates more on arguments, romance, controversy etc

Hopefully we will get to see more of them now.

I think it's a genuine friendship - I like them both They need to start showing Daniel as a kind, level headed human being not just his 'debatably-funny quips'.
