The sad issue with that, though, is... to be very, very blunt... women on TV generally have a sell-by-date where men don't. Obviously not universally true, but in general, it is... Norton is pushing 60 but he's not going anywhere. Ant and Dec would have been on prime time until retirement if Ant hadn't become a greek tragedy. Whereas other than the odd exception, women get until 50 if they're lucky.

The same goes for Hollywood really. A large number of male stars who are big names in their early years continue to front big movies well into middle age. Women - even prominent ones - are usually relegated to character / supporting roles .

But who knows what the solution is there... it's a societal issue. What sells, sells and it can't be forced .
