Aggression is almost always considered a winning trait if it comes from the favorable side... it's the same in most sports... there's not many cases in our culture when a "docile" or person possessing little to no spark is going to be treated like a major contender... at least not right away.

A docile football team is hardly likely to win anymore than a docile army

Aggression is needed in life but must be correctly focused and applied.

Too much aggression leads to violent behaviour. Too little aggression means you become an easy victim of someone else's violence! As with the animal kingdom.

Like most things - a balance must be struck. We need overall kindness in society but not sacrifice all things aggressive. Aggression needs to be kept sheathed like a wise samurai keeps his sword.

We may need it some day to defend precious kindness.
