I had to laugh that he said he didn't want to eat meat in case he got cancer while quaffing red wine

What he was really saying is I can hog the vegan sausages and can kick off over them when I like and don't feel like eating the same things as the rest of the house. I have special dietary needs when it suits me to set me apart and give me special treatment.

Red wine is full of antioxidants and it's not very bad in moderation, meat on the other hand, especially red meat, is extremely carcinogenic.

These was a major scientific report out just this week in which scientists suggested an urgent need for more people to become flexitarian in order to combat climate change because the world is within just a couple of decades of tipping over the point where it is too late to turn back. Apparently there are 22 million flexitarians in the UK at the moment, and the word 'flexitarian' is the term used by scientists.

You can be a flexitarian minimus or a flexitarian maximus, depending on how much meat you cut out of your diet.
