Lost on this one, all I have to say is that everyone imo has a right to live their lives in the way they want to so long as it isnt hurting another being. Whilst we may not be in a certain situation, we have experienced another and therefore we learn empathy, love and understanding. Eventually we will all know the reason why and until then we have to live each day as though it were our last. My thoughts apply to all things unacceptable to some but ok with others and vice versa, we have no right to judge....Possibly there shoudnt be headings, just life...it is the headings which make people uncertain.

i wasn't dismissing... but struggle to see how someone can have an informed opinion on something they haven't gone through themselves..

just as people who haven't suffered racism have little right to express how POC should feel...
just as men have no right to tell women what they can/can't do with their bodies...
just as someone who is CISgender has no right to tell a transgender person how to feel/react/live their life...

list goes on.. but yeah i'll leave it there.

Well it certainly makes a difference. People with actual experiences regarding this matter also probably have more empathy for others going through the same thing than someone people who have never met a gay person for example. It doesn’t make their opinion any less, but you can see why people value it more

I suppose nobody had come out on TV before that I know of and in that it was a step in the right direction, and I thought the party was a real sweet touch... I was watching a video on facebook the other day about a guy in Manchester who became homeless after his parents rejected him coming out and had been living on the streets for 6 years because of it... so when things like that happen, seeing it celebrated is... refreshing?

Dean, I do agree with your points, but remember this one was on tv, be it cameron or production or both milked it a week or two too long, that's all. I don't dismiss his right to come out on tv as such.

Yeah it makes sense it just rang X factor sob story alarms for me. I think they knew it’d be relatively publicised so they just kinda went with it. Also like there’s been lgbt arcs before on big brother and the house was relatively accepting. Take bb13 for example with Luke a coming out as trans to everyone and literally everyone being respectful, and tbh transgender is far less accepted in society at the moment too. Considering the episode came off some spiteful behaviour to akeem from him and Lewis too it was just a very sour episode for me, but it grabbed headlines so what do I know

Either way folk are being manipulated emotionally set up by the producers and Cameron. The facts are there for all to see if they want to look at them. The story gave him a short term boost in popularity and it then sank back down again. That tells me viewers don't see it as a particularly big deal
