There's an Adventure mode, dubbed World of Light
There's a heavy emphasis on 'Spirits' - they're optional 'add-ons' to characters, if you like. These are the spirits of gaming characters, such as Dixie Kong. A spirit can improve the power/speed/defence or have a bonus effect (for example, makes the player metal) and these spirits can be levelled up and you can attach them to the playable characters so they get that benefit. It's hard to explain

There's classic mode, which is great this time around because each character has a unique theme to them. Also boss battles!
