I mean jokes can be in bad taste and I may choose not to listen to a comedian because I find them tasteless but generally speaking it probably should be ok to joke about most things. One thing I did think crossed the line though in recent years was Frankie Boyle mocking/joking about Katie Prices son Harvey. He's a disabled child and I thought that was too far and targeting when it was aimed at a specific child.

yes targetting someone individually who cannot help what they have been afflicted by would be beyond the pale.
I think he started off looking to offend in that instance rather than trying to be funny and as such crossed a line |

Look at MOnty Python and the fury they were met with when they joked about Christianity
Now comedians would not even bother as it would not get a laugh They have even moved on from ISIS jokes |

I actually agree on these two (mostly) and would add physical and learning disability to the list, too.
With the caveat that I do think it's OK (and even sometimes healthy) for people to be able to make jokes about their OWN mental health and disabilities. |

Mhm-hm. Nothing beats a bit of self-irony but it shouldn’t come from outsiders should it.

Comedy should be unrestricted, if there are jokes I find distasteful, I simply don't pay the comedian further attention.

I heard a mother of a suicide victim say she wished more comedians joked about suicide and feelings leading up to it!

To be fair, I agree in principle, but that's where there's a difference between CAN and SHOULD. I agree that comedians CAN make jokes about whatever they want... I just think there are some things that should be avoided. It's not really just about personal taste / avoiding offense - e.g. certain jokes about people with learning disabilities or mental health conditions aren't just "in poor taste", they are actually damaging in terms of furthering gross misconceptions.

As long as the joke is worded well then anything should be allowed...I'm NOT for anyone imitating disabilities for a laugh.

I agree that the line is when it gets personal.
Frankie Boyle's treatment of Harvey Price was nothing more than bullying. |

I think all jokes should be up for grabs, even if it's in poor taste.

we are all different and we all find different comedians funny and in turn they have their own style of comedy/material they use.
Frankie Boyle is in my opinion a great comedian, who pushes the boundaries. If you don’t like what’s on the menu don’t eat it. The real bad taste jokes in the world is, that someone can rape and butcher a child and then be put back on the streets. |

Depends, doesn't it. Do you mean here or in real life? Because there's a myriad of things you're not allowed to joke about on this forum.
