I finally came around to watch season 9 after months of nothing watching it so i may need to re-watch some of the others. I did enjoy this season tbh and from what i remember it was better than 7 and 8 but i didn't like the final lip sync showdown at the end and i feel rupaul chose wrong twice, i felt Trinity was better than Peppermint and i felt Peppermint was better than Sasha. overall Trinity was robbed! I really hope they don't do this again on the final

I wish Aja had waited until AS4. She'd probably outlast Valentina, and now Valentina's going to look better because she'll probably "make it further" than Aja did despite not really doing anything amazing.

Never really got the Aja hype, tbh. I think a lot of it was built up pre-season when she was constantly compared to Naomi and presented as a credible threat to go far. She kind of defined mediocrity during S9 and the main reason she came back for AS3 (where she was only a bit better) was due to her Linda Evangelista rant and criticism of Valentina winning Miss Congeniality at the reunion.

Yeah she sucked during S9 but to deny her glow-up in the brief gap until AS3 would be a little disrespectful: she held her own in a pretty strong cast (Bebe, Trixie, Shangela, Thorgy, Kennedy, Ben, anyway) and only landed in the bottom once I think? For something that was pretty poorly-executed by all queens anyway.

Oh nvm she also was bottom 3 for the Bitchelor. Still nowhere near as bad as Milk/Chi Chi though, so I'd take that as a "Detox in the bottom 3 for Snatch Game in AS2" situation, really. Her music and looks have evolved a lot, though, and she's one of the most compelling queens in recent seasons. Certainly of the younger queens, anyway.

I agree with all of this. Aja was pretty much useless fodder in S9 and only really shone during her lip sync performances. There was a glow-up in terms of Aja's aesthetic because she learned how to perfect her make-up for HD cameras after the abuse she got on S9, which was awful and unwarranted. This is probably unpopular but none of her runways were All-Star ready. I understand this is probably because of the time period between S9 and AS3, but I'd have to judge her fairly based on choosing to go back so soon. Ironically, I think she looked the best in the garment she made for the episode she went home in.

In terms of the challenges: yes, the talent show was justified, though the performance itself wasn't really my cup of tea because I do tire of splits and jumps and all that jazz. Her Amy was okay but didn't stand-out (Ms Disastuh was also not a glow-up, imo. Well, It was a glow-up because of how bad the original was, but still executed badly and I think people wanted to love it because of the backstory.). I'm drawing a blank with The Bitchelor because I can't remember her character. Snatch Game is always hard because I rarely find any of them funny. Yeah, her elimination was bull****, but I wasn't mad about it based on how I felt towards her up to that point. Though, I do understand why she felt like she was never going to win.

Also, I think for a queen who said that her duty for All-Stars 3 was to make herself a marketable and meme-worthy Queen, she was just kinda a side-note. I compare her to Monet in that there's big following behind her but I'm just not one of the people in that following. I'm sure she's nice and all, but if we're on a discussion forum I'm not gonna lie about my opinion just to sweeten the perspectives of other forum members. Disrespectful or not.

edit: The return episode was great for the eliminated queens in general, but I still think other queens had more fun and were distinctive with their verses.

Her flowers runway and her wigs on wigs runway were gorgeous though (well in my personal opinion, like you say I suppose it’s down to taste) but I thought she had a better runway collection than well... all the other queens on the series tbh

I think Wigs on Wigs was really overrated because I didn't think the bodysuit suited (lmao) her and the bows looked really clunky and didn't flatter her. The only wig I liked was the pink one, which was really, really nice on her. The others, not so much. I liked the direction she took with it, being an Animé fan but wasn't fond of the execution.

Honestly, I had to remind myself what the Flowers one looked like because I didn't find that particularly memorable compared to some of the amazing runway looks there have been on All-Star seasons. It's definitely pretty, though. Probably better than her Andy Warhol look, actually.

In fact, the runway looks on AS3 can't hold a candle to the looks on AS2 or AS4 (so far). I personally think Trixie had the strongest looks that season and no-one else really came close.
