It's hard to say which i preferred really, for me Season 6 was interesting to watch because it was the first Season where I didn't know what was going to happen plus it's always good when the story starts coming together and you start getting answers.

I said loose as I've not actually read the books personally, I just know that the writers have had to deviate from the books.
