67. Shallow (with Bradley Cooper) // A Star Is Born (track 6) // 2018

Lowest-ranked lead single

Maybe taking out Shallow in 18th-last place is a tad harsh. It's an emotional, roaring ballad that is very simplistic but swells into a big moment. It's the pivotal song of the film, and has been Gaga's biggest hit in years and years. It's been a global phenomenon and I will always appreciate Shallow for that.

It's just that... I've got to be honest with myself, and the facts are, I would drag this song if it was released by Ed Sheeran (which honestly, it could have been), for being basic or whatever. Lyrically, there isn't a lot going on, and it's not the best ballad on the soundtrack by any measure. However, Gaga and Cooper do really put their own stamp on Shallow, and I guess for the GP, it just worked.
