Easy to say when you're not in that situation tbh.

When you work in retail, you're told not to intervene in dangerous situations. You have to alert authorities while not engaging the dangerous individual. If someone does so and they get hurt, they won't be insured for it and you can bet they'll face disciplinary action for going against procedure.
