Tbh I found it cringey exactly for that reason.

It was like the director was told last minute he had actresses contracted to appear so gave them a random shot in the middle of the action. How insulting.

The treatment of Black Widow in most of these movies has never been great but this one inparticular was diabolical.

How? She was a defacto leader (she was hosting the conference call; they were all running stuff by her), she helped put them together; and she made the decision to sacrifice herself, and fought tooth and nail to actualise it.

The defacto leader who was relegated to the background once the male heroes decided they'd like to take part again.

Then died because the mass murderer had more to live for (ie. Has kids). That's not a sexist trope.

To be fair she doesn't have the powers or tech the others have, so of course they'd take a more promiment role ... and having a family is more to live for, it's the most important job in the world!
