That's elevating humans above what we are though, as much a member of the animal kingdom as any other animal. We're part of the circle of life even if we end up destroying the planet. A self-destructive evolution of life that was probably inevitable. There are plenty of other destructive species that add nothing to the "circle", they're just not as prominent as humans.
