I think it does play into a few unhelpful stereotypes to be honest. Not really in terms of objectification, I don't really see it as promoting "partners as possessions" (who doesn't say "your wife / husband / child"?) but...

1) It plays into the idea that home maintenance is "men's territory", or that men are likely to be the "money holder" who can arrange for it to be fixed. Your wife is cold so YOU better fix it. Poor lady is stuck cold until you take your hand off the purse strings?

2) It plays into the "happy wife happy life" rhetoric that is just really unhealthy. "If your wife isn't happy she'll make your life a misery until you sort out whatever the problem is she wants solved".
