I was wondering that, we had some crazy thunder a few days ago (the house actually shook), there were a few power cuts in local villages after it (not here ) and there are now a few areas locally where there's no mobile reception at all and others where there's "basic" but no 3g/4g so it seems like it knocked out some mobile phone masts.

I'd guess a bigger storm in the wrong place could do some damage to the grid?
