It's not new, Cherie... The "pick up manual" (The Game) is from 2005 and the methods described in it have been around for decades.

If anyone's interested, the basic premise is to "tease" someone by making them out to be unimpressive, in the hopes that it'll play on some insecurity and they will then double down on their efforts to "impress" or catch the attention of the person doing the negging. In other words, baiting someone who wasn't all that interested into "doing the chasing".

It's crappy just like any other pick-up "trick".

I do agree with you though that she should just have shot him down in the chat and blocked. If she wanted to post it as an example of what women have to put up with (which is also fine) she should really have blanked out any names / pictures / other identifying information. It flies a little too close to doxxing otherwise, in my opinion.
