I think they could have dialled down the Iron Man stuff in both movies but I think the links being there help the overall property. All the movies basically function as ads for each other... Their box office will drop a bit if they're out of the MCU.
Likewise having Spider-man available for future Avengers movies is practically essential
. His absence would have a significant impact on the "team up" MCU
