I would rationalise it by thinking that someone who has stashed near on £1000 and forgotten its there has either got money to burn or its been stashed for a dodgy reason

Also, if you bought something from a charity shop for £3.50 and then went and had it valued and it was worth £1000 as it was really rare, would you give the difference back?

I wouldn't....I'd be laughing all the way to the airport

If it was in a wallet and there was clear identification, however...

Otherwise no.

I'd give it to Mod21 to turn into a £million through coral bets.

I believe the actual woman hadn't bought it but the money started falling out while she was browsing records, in that instance I'd be more likely to alert the shop as I don't actually own the record and it'd be a bit sneaky buying it having noticed the cash

If I bought it then got home and discovered it then its difficult, I'd feel a bit uncomfortable but Annie makes some good points short of a social media appeal I doubt there'd be any way of finding out who the money actually belonged to

I’d consider it a bargain for only £3.50

Tbf the only thing I’d feel bad about is it being a charity shop but I give some money to charity, homeless, etc. every once in a while when I can anyway and I would definitely give extra moving forward after finding a free $900 from somewhere

I’d keep it, it’s not my fault that someone was careless enough to get rid of it, like someone said, if you bought something and sold it for much more than it was worth, you wouldn’t be expected to split the profit

I used to assistant manage a charity shop, and sorters would always be checking through donations to see if money was inside them, aha.
