I was sceptical when he was cast but he was the only compelling companion in S11. Ryan (was that his name? I can't remember) was a terribly written character and the actor wasn't good at all and Yaz was played by a decent actress but the character was a nothing character that was nothing more than a spectator even in episodes that focused on her.

Bradley turned in the best performance and had the most well rounded character of the three.

I think the only time Season 11 worked well was when they dealt with human tragedy and more complex issues. Both the Rosa Parks and Punjab episodes were great because they focused on the reality of the times. Chibnall can't write a good alien threat to save his life but Season 11 shined when it dealt with strictly human themes/
