The definition of insanity is repeating an action but expecting a different result. .. I liken that to people who consistently vote conservative. When will austerity be over? When will things be better?
They have done nothing but drag this country down, I could quote stat after stat but it's been done to death.

I honestly don't get why people still vote Tory after the absolute mess of the last 9 years.

Bizarre times. Like I said though, the Tories are going to lose that working class vote eventually because its a fickle vote... And when they do, they're going to find it near impossible to regain the traditional Tory vote that they've traded away.
The sad thing is, I don't think the Tories will ever lose that vote. These people won't wise up to the fact that the Tories treat them terribly as long as they keep going along with the Brexit fantasy and empty words about immigrants. It's too convenient for those people to blame scapegoats and whoever the Tories tell them to blame then to accept they've been voting against themselves.

The fantasies the Tories peddle are more preferable to these voters than the truth of the state of the country we live in.

This.

Let them enjoy a short term success I say.

its a fact, if you are say 21 you will not remember more than about 9 years ago politically - you may have read stuff but you wont recall living through it and indeed its wholly different being at home living rent free and being looked after by parents than it is in the next 10 years of a 21 year old when they have to pay rent, mortgage, food, car etc and work for a living (in general). Its then that politics really affects your life personally

broadly speaking as there are many exceptions like yourself, at home at 28 and not working or paying any outgoings

I'm 29, I can remember all the way back to John Major. Back when the Tories were at least a little more sensible. Now they're a shambles. These last 9 years have been a mess.

English politics has been a mess, no side has been anything other than shambolic.

I can't change the definition can I? If you vote for something and the situation gets 100 times worse then you vote in exactly same way in the vain hope things will change then the comparison is entirely apt.

9 years of tory austerity and practically doubling the debt, but it's all politics that are to blame, not the party in charge.
