There’s also a touch of*hypocrisy here. The sort of well-heeled, predominantly white, middle-aged crowd who attend such charity cricket lunches are often the first to call other people “snowflakes”, complain about “woke” culture or protest that “you’re not allowed to say anything nowadays”. Yet crack a couple of Brexit jibes and they go swivel-eyed with indignation and start reaching for the bread rolls.
