Anyone with an ounce of respect for their child would not call up the paparazzi and sell stories about their child though.

He told the truth, there is no shame in that and no one should be ashamed of it

he is of an age and stage of health where every day he lives could be his last

this clears the mind, he has no axe to grind, he wants to tell the truth to save the daughter he loves

Sorry but a dad making a TV show to say how bad his daughter is does not scream "great dad" to me. If I ever fell out with either of my children (even if I thought they were in the wrong) they're my kids, the last thing I'd do is try to publicly humiliate them to get sympathy for myself. The fact that he was willing to do this speaks much clearer than whatever he has to say in the show.

He only contacted them when lies came out about the letter she sent him..the lies were the letter said she loved and missed him...when it was actually telling him to eff off and leave her alone.
