Yeah he was a US Park Ranger, so not ENTIRELY random... A combination of where he worked having regular lightning storms, and maybe being... Really conductive?

The one that's really weird is that he got hit in his car once, which hardly ever happens because the lightning hits the car body and is conducted away. Being in a car is one of the safest places during a lightning storm so long as you don't touch any exposed metal. But in his case, the lightning hit a tree and then jumped in through an open window!

I reckon he pissed off Thor.
