Because there are other things happening right now, idk if you’d noticed and they’re hardly our problem, we can’t stop them

tbf Liam, it is all of our problem at the moment, the "other things" that are happening right now all originated from there, surely that really really makes it our business. If this is really where coronavirus came from then I think it's despicable of China to just reopen them and carry on. Surely they owe it to literally the whole world to do something with these markets to make sure that this won't happen again?

It is very hard not to, given how tight of a grip China has on manufacturing. Though China is now working on making Africa its workhouse, basically (which IMO is a bad thing, since its exploitation and colonialism)

And we should all make it our business to demand some sort of review of these markets. It's all well and good to say, it their country they can do with they like but when it starts affecting all of our countries then it's very much our business I think. I mean the world literally came to a standstill over this

There needs to be a thought given to food standards across the globe tbh.. including the west.
Look at the 'chlorine washed chicken' debate, a process advocated by some of our ministers, why would a chicken need to be washed? Because the conditions it lived and died in meant it was ridden with disease. There has been a rise in the use of 'intensive farming' methods for pigs too trapped in a tiny pen and all they can do is eat, left rotting where they fall. How long till this practice spawns a new coronavirus? The BSE crisis, remember that? came about by feeding cows...to cows! Yes the wet markets need highlighting, but they are not the only place where the risk exists. Putting pressure closer to home would be advisable too.

I don't disagree with you Kizzy but one particular practice, the Wet Markets have actually caused a worldwide pandemic not a hypothetical one so imo, they need to be first on the list

When we’ve got through what we’re going through now, then we can try and see what can be done, they’re obviously horrendous things that do awful things to animals and they should definitely be stopped,, I just can’t help but find it a tad bit hypocritical, cause if another country got involved tried to stop us doing something that we do that they didn’t like, I don’t think this country would be as willing to accept it going that way

Just in the news today it was reported many countries around the world are backing a call from Australia for an independent investigation into the virus.

Many countries have had wet markets for hundreds of years, yes, I totally agree it was going to happen somewhere at sometime.
The cultural aspects of wet markets are easy to investigate and address, but as said the closed nature of China and the possibility of withheld information? Hmm not as easy. I agree they do need action on wet markets, but also take this as a warning to tighten up on animal welfare and food production everywhere.

there is no proof yet that the wet market was the source, i'm much more inclined to believe it originated in their research center

There are a few countries apparently who want investigations into the source.
