No surprise these people get away with things like this when people defend them to the hilt even while knowing they’re wrong, unbelievable

Exactly.
Half the public are breaking the rules now, people only care because he’s a member of government And people are wanting to hate the government, , the people complaining have probably broken the rules also...

And I also do think he was silly to break the rules but the media is always going to make it sound as bad as possible, and like Kazanne has said firing everyone for breaking the rules would leave nobody in the workforce. I personally am not bothered if he goes because I’ve never been a fan of him and do find him a little arrogant, but it’s just hypocritical to blame the government for all wrong doings when the public are at fault. I also don’t like this new culture of, theyve made a mistake, fire them, as it will get dangerous soon and will start happening more frequently for smaller errors/issues

No one is defending him, just pointing out the hypocrisy here.IF he broke the rules for no valid reason he needs his arse kicked, but all we have at the minute is hysterical newspaper headlines. I wonder why ? Didn't Kinnock do the same? not a lot said about that one.this from one of the top rag mags

The difference being though Kaz, Kinnock advise on the lockdown being put in place. When you set the rules people will always call you out, quite rightly, if you don't adhere to them. We know it has happened so to me its indefensible.

Plenty of other parent's who have had the virus struggled through with their children without breaking the lockdown that Cummings himself was instrumental in implementing.

He should have been punished as well, the big difference is, he wasn’t one of the people in charge of creating the rules was he? Don’t make the rules, if you’re not going to stick to them yourself

I think the anger is about the hypocrisy more than the action, though. Yes a lot of people are bending the rules - but they're not the people telling everyone else that they should be following them (or actually SETTING them in the first place).

I guess for a comparison, it would be like James going around TiBB calling everyone cockgremlins and then telling people they'll get banned if they call him names.

Like no one would actually be angry about the swearing - they'd be angry about the double standards.

Also, as one of the people ‘complaining’ I have most definitely not broken the rules myself, because I for one actually care about my vulnerable mother who will definitely die if she caught the virus, but that’s just me

BUT yes as I said yesterday, I think there is a large element of "needing a punching bag" going on at the moment. That's not to say that these people don't deserve it... But I think a lot of the "outrage" is because people are (understandably) frustrated at a situation that's bigger than individuals or governments... But you can't swing your fists at a virus, you can't scream or shout or be outraged at a virus, it would be like standing on a pier screeching at a hurricane to **** off back out to sea.

All of that pent up anger and frustration has to go somewhere. And to be fair, I can't think of many people more deserving of it than Cummings. Extremely sinister little troglodyte.

I understand that Annie and I know he has done it ,not clear on why though yet ,I have adhered to the lockdown as much as possible myself ,I am classed as a key worker so have had to go out at times, but have kept my distance as much as I can,I don't have a problem with people who do that,I was just pointing out the hypocrisy of the paps ,shoulder to shoulder to get those pics, you stay safe Annie.

I get this aswell, but the hypocrisy of the press just made me shake my head, also I do think even on TIBB there has been double standards, just my opinion.

So you'd rather distract the discussion to hypocrite paps and TiBB mods than Cummings, the topic of discussion.

I understand that Kaz and have very little thoughts for the media but in my mind if you hold yourself as a leader above the people you are more accountable for your actions and be prepared for criticism if you are found lacking as he has been here..

I have adhered to the lockdown to the letter - I have done only essential shopping as infrequently as possible as I have done lots of batch cooking so there was plenty of meals in the freezer, not visited anyone and as a non essential furloughed worker have not left the house other than for the hour a day we have been allowed.

Hope you and your family are all safe and well Kaz

It'll probably be a similar situation to when that woman in Scotland was having merry weekends away - Sturgeon didn't intend to sack her, but she was harassed out of the job. I don't think BoJo intends to sack Cummings, but he also might be bullied into it.

It's not like he was breaking the rules for fun - his parents were ill, and couldn't look after the kids. To be fair that is a reasonable reason to go there.

There has been no suggestion his parents were ill? ...and what kids are we talking about? it was Easter holidays perfect time for a break from London more like

I suppose that it’s just a coincidence that his mother and his wife’s birthdays coincide with his multiple trips away from London

Oops it looks like you're right

The article I just read says they made the journey so his parents could look after the kid while he and his wife recovered, which if it were true would be fair.

The not travelling is so you don't create ' bubbles' of infection wherever you go. Can you imagine having to track and trace his trip?
