No the key worker kids were guinea pigs, unless you think their toddlers miraculously socially distanced in nursery?

LD education has been kicked into the long grass which is... fun...
Because LD kids can't be expected to social distance, and because they often need specialist transport with a support worker and social distancing there is impossible, the current answer to when LD kids are going to be able to go back to school seems to be "lol... dunno". Now... I personally don't mind my youngest being at home. She's missing the social contact but is coming on great, if anything her talking has improved more quickly in the last couple of months than it has in quite a while (though that could just be coincidence; it has always tended to improve in sudden bursts like this). She's also picked up swearing from her sister so that's fun . But... the government currently pays something like £5000/year for primary education per child. It's actually significantly higher for learning disabilities, but we'll call it the flat rate. Do you think I can send them my bank deets and get that $$$? On a more serious note, it is discrimination obviously but what can be said about that. All gone out the window "because of the covids"... we'll worry about petty little things like discrimination again one day in the distant future. Maybe. |

Update Apparently guidelines have now been union backed for the places reopening and as long as schools stick to risk assessments their local authorities lay out, it is the local authorities that are liable not the headteacher or governing body - something that I know has made a lot of headteachers feel a bit better about reopening Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

you are missing the point, the key workers kids have been in school for the past 10 weeks, do you think they have been distant from each other, the class sizes are going to be small around 6 or so in some schools so no different to what key workers kids experienced.

My next door neighbours (large breed) dogs had 9 puppies right at the start of lockdown so now there are 11 dogs in their 3-bed that they can't get rid of... and I hate them, so this is something that I think of and smile several times per day. I think about what their living room must smell like and it makes me feel all warm inside.

To be fair the poor little pups do need to get away from their parents. They're not pleasant dogs. Two giant, aggressive, snarling bastards that are under-walked and barely trained. The poor littl'uns will start picking up their bad habits in no time if they don't get rehomed.

You jest, but we have been known to ponder whether or not Lady Neighbour is in fact biologically related to the dogs. And I strongly suspect that the parent dogs are siblings .
The guy looks EXACTLY like Marv from Home Alone but with short hair/pattern baldness. Which is another thing that's given me years of mirth. |

I was going to say because they're arseholes, but I don't get on with my neighbour over the back fence either, because he tried to tell me off for glass clippings blowing through his fence and I told him to go and **** himself. So it might be me?
No I'm sure it's them! And actually, the ones over the back don't like the dog ones either. It's a big ol' triangle of neighbourly hatred . |

I was really confused and it took me way too long to realise you meant grass clippings.
