You should read up on the details of that case before you put rape in quotations. It was undoubtedly rape, the victim was unconscious and couldn't consent, Turner tried to run for it when he was discovered and the people who discovered and apprehended him corroborated everything.

Being white in America more often than not allows for some degree of leniency. Let's not forget about times where the police have apprehended white shooters alive yet they'll shoot black people in their beds when they have the wrong house.
