Hmm. There's a difference between what you should and shouldn't find funny or insulting, and the ability to appreciate that what other people find insulting, and where the line is, in different social situations.

I think there's stuff in Little Britain that can pass in a stand-up comedy but not in a mainstream TV show. And lots of things in stand-up that just can't and shouldn't be in mainstream (essentially) "family telly".

Me and my wife say and laugh about things at home that we would not in public. Me and my friends say things in WhatsApp groups that we would never say on a public forum or open social media.

No one is telling you what you're privately allowed to find funny or what you "should" find insulting. You can disagree with someone and still have consideration for them.
