We've kept our bars and restaurants closed a lot longer than most of Europe but the levels of transmission of the virus in the community is now very low and we've seen that the infections and deaths have still decreased even with the easing of other measures, the progress we've made in the last few weeks is massive

Absolutely they are.

No way am I going to be taking any risks, sadly it's the other people who take the risks then infect others.

This 1 metre with mitigation guideline, while saying 2 metres is still preferable.
What tripe is that.

People in pubs, having a few drinks, caution thrown to the wind.
Going into Stores or shops, then passing on infections to whoever's at home with them.
evthose who they meet on the way home possibly.

Bonkers, raving bonkers and an abandonment of duty by those in charge as to the safety, real safety of ALL.

And the scientific evidence behind your view is what?

Because the government have evidence. I wonder where your view comes from?

The danger is that if the guidelines are relaxed, people will just relax them even further. All the scientist say that you are up to 10 times more likely to get the virus at 1 metre than 2 metres. If that then pushes up the infection rate by 10 times, we have a big problem. I'm all for getting things back up and running, but this 1 metre thing does concern me a lot. In a pub environment there will be no masks and people are going to be in an ideal breeding ground for the virus

In florida, they had 3000 new infections yesterday after they relaxed their restrictions. I will be sticking to at least 2 metres until I see concrete evidence that it's not an issue

It comes from my own view certainly just as yours does.

From all we've been told to do over the last months.
From my determination at all costs to take no risks with any more of my loved ones lives.

Also from the fact I distrust near all the Ministers say and also, there's conflicting scientific advice all around too.

That won't satisfy you but I'll look after my loved ones and I have no respect for a government now set on playing risky games with the lives of people.

Piling more people out in society, opening up this, that and the other, then saying all those shielding are virtually on their own in about 5 weeks now!!!

Have they not lost enough sick and elderly to satisfy yet.
They sure have in my view..
THOUSANDS unnecessarily too.

And a second wave/spike is surely creeping in - things like Cummings inspired jaunts, VE weekend, and weeks of protests all pretty much backed on to each other. All of those stones rolling at the same time are sure to gather some moss...

Imagine the parties and celebrations on 4th July .. I dread to think what the infection rate will be by the 15 July ...

Imagine if we have to all go back into a Level 4/5 lockdown situation over the summer school holidays

I don’t know about concrete evidence ( although I’ve seem various stats quoted over the last few months showing that the airborne virus particles CAN travel 13 ‘ through the air ) but pretty much every scientist/microbiologist who’s spoken on the matter agree that the closer you get to others the better chance you have of contracting the virus .

I've tried to keep more to that all through.

I think you're wise thinking that way.

I read hairdressers aren't being allowed to re-open in Scotland until sometime between July 9th and August 11th.

When are they re-opening dentists?

That is pretty much an essential service.

LT failing to understand what an opinion is example #43231.

You don't need to qualify an opinion with evidence. Learn the difference between an opinion and a statement because screeching at people to provide proof for their opinions because you lack the smarts to overcome what they're saying is not a good look.

Dentists are open now in England I think, but the requirements meant that only a third of them were ready to open

i'm only going by what scientist have said, and in situations like this I would rather be on the side of caution. Luckily, i'm in a position to decide if i want to go to the pub or not, and to decide if i want to remain at a 2m distance.

Plenty of tobacco manufacturers said there was no harm in smoking while science said otherwise, and I think pub owners now are pretty much the same as the tobacco manufacturers were then

imagine easing down regulations when there are still loads of new hospitalisations, new deaths

how stupid can one government be

at least ours had waited until numbers were at a very low

also official here in Netherlands now, from september again ''reduced'' audiences at football matches, no chants, no cheers, and there needs to be the 1.5 metre distance ofc at all times and face masks are a must

Default Coronavirus Outbreak

It’s a mess .. I heard yesterday on LBC that they’d contacted many of the tracers who admit they’ve not been contacted /given any leads to follow up yet even though there were apparently around 7,000 new infections each DAY until the last week .. it’s still far too high a number to trace them all plus the people they’ve been in contact with .

Out of the 25,000 tracers ( if we can believe that figure in the first place ) apparently 7,000 of them are trained medical professionals, doctors and nurses taking a break from their usual career to join the fight against coronavirus in a different way ( reducing the number of experienced doctors/ nurses seems wrong before we start !)

Others were recruited from call centres or they are students looking for a summer job and their task is to help discover who may have been in contact with a person who has tested positive for coronavirus.

The number of new infections is apparently far too high keep a track on everyone who needs to be isolated.
