None of the queens are exciting me but I may give this a go.

I do think Brooke Lynn lacks charisma but she's more than qualified to judge a drag competition considering she has one of the best track records of all-time and was in the top like 9 weeks out of 11.

Does she need to be the biggest drag name out there? Or really just the biggest known one from Canada. Bianca is fabulous but not a Canadian. I think the general concept of "Canada's" Drag Race has escaped you.

I think Brooke Lynn will be fine with regards to actually hosting but I’m worried she will just be a bit boring. I might give it a try when it comes out.

No it hasn't escaped me. In regards to Bianca, I wasn't specifically talking about Canada's Drag Race because it takes place in (guess what) Canada. She would be a great host.

What I just meant is that I felt it might be a bit too early. Maybe she could have gained more momentum to a larger audience before taking the coach/host role.
Not taking away any of her talent, her track record on Drag Race or anything. Out of a bad season, she and A'keria were my favorites. She'll do a good job at it I'm sure. I was sharing a little thought on a public forum, but sorry if I hurt feelings.

I did find it odd that someone who didn’t even win their season of drag race (and didn’t get a chance to win on all stars) was chosen.

So who gets the role then? Do you know any other Canadian drag queens who fit the bill?

So many critics before the show starts. If you all knew of some Canadian who go got passed over for the position who is better suited... please share.

First of all, no I don’t, which is why I didn’t suggest any others, but Brooke Lynn Hytes isn’t the only Canadian Drag Queen that exists

Second of all, where did I say I didn’t like it? Sure it’s an odd choice, but it’s not going to make the show unwatchable, and it’s great that the host and judge is someone who knows what it’s like to experience the process. I just found it odd they’d chosen Brooke, as she didn’t win, but it’s not a bad choice?

I'll give it a go but I can't see it being that good. Hopefully the queens themselves can make up for the underwhelming panel.

The production/set design/cinematography is actually really nice. It looks cute and easy on the eye as opposed to the harsh/vivid-ness of Drag Race US.

I don't have any expectations, which I think is better than having high or low ones. It does serve Canada's Next Top Model syndrome, with it probably being inferior to its American sister but still enjoyable and refreshing.

It doesn't look cheap from what we saw in that trailer, which is a good thing. Let's see!

Yeah the production looks nice, I just... can't see any personality in any of the three main judges so this will be painful. Not that Ru/Michelle/Ross/Carson's forced banter has me rolling in stitches but... they at least have charisma.

Crystal (DRUK1) returning is cute.

Oh yay I liked Ralph's EP ('Tease' was a v v v v v v v v cute song)

OK so it wasn't as bad as people/myself thought it would be.
It was actually pretty good for a Premiere. All the ingredients were there: over-confident bitches, a fashion challenge, new lingo and a good lipsync.
It seemed forced at times, probably because Brooke Lynn is not known to be the funniest drag queen out there, but I think it will feel more natural in the coming episodes.

Spoiler:

I think the right person went home ( @ her having a panic attack and being sent packing 10 minutes later)
But the wrong one won the challenge tbh, Jimbo should have won.

I’d say this was a success overall. The production and especially the cast are great, the only issue really is the judges (they aren’t even that bad it just all fees a lot more scripted and stiff than with Ru, Michelle etc). Also why was the guest judge doing the intro and runway and lip sync stuff it felt really weird

Spoiler:

The judging was a MESS tho. Like they really put the 3rd worse look in the top cause she had a good personality? And HOW did Jimbob now win that look was spectacular! Correct bottom 2 but I didn’t really love Rita’s look. It was good with the coat thing but so plain without it

Besides Jeffrey being annoying, and my uncertainty of the joint judging/guest host setup, it was a good premiere and I’ll be sticking with it.

It’s because they’ve changed it to Guest Host which is ..... an odd move.
