Really not seeing the issue here? Of course some people wont be happy about being restricted, people from all walks of life and religion. You will always get people moaning or flouting the current rules, but it's not limited to any religion or race from what i've seen.

...I don’t think the Muslim community feel they're being targeted in any way with the new restrictions...nothing about the situation is ideal and it won’t be ideal for them but they’re adapting as all religions are and their celebrations will continue but will changed somewhat...

But they're not? Blackburn was locked down recently and its quite clear the measures didn't work as well as they'd hoped as it now seems to be spreading to neighbouring areas.

Easter was a wash out for Christians across the world and I suspect Christmas will be a non social event this year. China locked down during Chinese new year so I think the world is being affected equally

Christine Hanna said: "Why didn't they do it sooner, so unfair for those celebrating Eid. It's like doing it on Christmas Eve for us. All preparations wasted."

Patricia McGlynn said: "What happens when Xmas is cancelled because ALL of us aren't trying to be careful ?????"

Sarah Kate Egan said: "I think it has been very cruel to the Muslim community who will have been preparing for Eid over the last few days. When most of the decisions to do with Covid have been made with weeks of notice before they come into play, this seems very cruel. I agree fast decisions and implications need to be made, but this was obviously being considered before last night and if it needed to happen should have been implemented sooner to give communities time to make changes and adapt to the changes."

Janine Foster said:"The timing of the announcement is totally out of order. Could have been announced at the beginning of the week as it was obviously planned."

Craig Allison said: "Remember, it’s not safe to celebrate Eid but they want us all back to work now and school in 4.5 weeks! No wonder there’s no respect for the “rules” anymore. There’s not a scientist on the planet making all these caveats and distinctions.
Does anyone know anyone who’s been taken ill in these last couple of weeks?"

Christine Crawshaw said: "Ridiculous cant see my family but can serve 100s of people over weekend with meals and drinks at work."

...the unfairness would be for lives to be lost from all religious communities because the restrictions weren’t put in place ...it’s not ideal because none of this is ideal...what about those who are in Spain and their flights have been cancelled...?...that’s not happening because they’re being targeted, it’s all happening to try to contain something...and for the good of everyone..?...some of those ‘comments’ are very Divisive, whether intentionally so or not...and really not helpful to the very un-ideal world we’re all finding ourselves in atm...

...it’s surely just by way of explaining a meaning of something attached to one set of beliefs, by connecting it to another similar celebration meaning...

Yeah sounds like some are just flaming in order to score points. Faux outrage as per from a few looking for attention.

Its unfair for everyone who has to change their plans whatever they are, but they will get over it, and hopefully be around to celebrate at a later date

I’m upset because our neighbours usually bring round delicious food the last week of Ramadan but as we were locked down it didn’t happen this year

I am still not over it

As I see it is what's more important out of a Religion's special Holiday festivities or people's health? I think that I know the answer.

The Muslims that are complaining need to stop being selfish if they want to celebrate Eid properly in the foreseeable future.
