I agree with that but I just also think that if the goal and thinking of BLM is to have black lives matter just as much as the average white life does... well, that's a pretty ****ing low bar. Of course parity is a great starting point but let's not pretend that if there was full racial equality, the average life would actually matter to anyone up the chain. Most lives don't matter, not to anyone other than those close to that individual, and it's cute that anyone would think they do. It's a joke. People out shouting that black lives matter in the streets of London wearing a sloganed T-shirt made by an 8 year old earning 50p a day if they're lucky. Does anyone care? Maybe, in principle, but not THAT much, we carry on as we are. Again I recognize my relative privilege over ethnic minorities in the west, and all of our privilege over people who spend their entire lives being exploited for peanuts, but it's ALL smoke and mirrors. We all play the damn game.
