Default Should 16/17-year-olds be allowed to buy soft alcoholic drinks?

And by that I mean the sort of drinks they're allowed to drink in pubs so far as a legal adult's with them (most especially ciders) or should the purchase of any kind of alcoholic drink be reserved for over 17s?

It should stay as it is. I think a lot of people under 18 would act a bit too erratic if they were freely allowed to purchase alcohol in my opinion. I think the age restriction for energy drinks is something I don’t really agree with though.

And there’s not much in the way of a lower age cap of its consumption in general so it’s not as if you actually have to be 18 to drink it.

I agree on the alcopops. But cider can be lethal. So its a no to that. X

I don't think they should be able to buy them but should be given the chance to try alcohol at home, it's not a big deal until they're sneaking around and binge drinking in a car park which won't be as tempting if they can just have a cider with dinner in the house without a big deal being made out of it.

They're allowed to do that anyway.

Yes but so many parents are against it and it creates an unhealthy attitude

Bit of a baffling idea tbh to treat some drinks differently. Wkd is the same strength as a lot of lagers and ales and most ciders are stronger

...‘ they're allowed to drink in pubs so far as a legal adult's with them‘...this is the thing and crux really...specifically allowed with a meal when an adult has made the decision...as oppose to...yeah, go buy and consume what you want, the law says so...
