Cinemas operate on a very thin margin and if they can't generate the income to meet the overheads, they can't function. The "big blockbusters" that fill seats and sell all-important confectionery are necessary to keep the lights on, basically.

well obviously but in times like these you have to try everything surely,
half term kids movies as well to get the kids out, as long as the prices isn't superfleecy
