I understand the whole game show host thing , but I'd find him annoying aswell.

....and when he wasn’t cooking...he was trying to help and give advice. You can see it as ‘interfering’ and if you don’t like him that’s exactly what you will see. However some people cannot help getting involved because they simply like to help.
I do it when my son is cooking for his girlfriend...and my husband sort of kicks me under the table to not interfere...but I’m really only trying to help.
