Most of Biden's "rallies" were filmed in a studio, weren't they? I know some people joked he did in his basement, which I can't get out my head but either way, Biden's version was more effective at not spreading Covid.

As for the more votes thing, that's a combination of population growth and people thinking "god we need to get rid of Trump!" Having a divisive candidate makes people more likely to vote.

You can use the get out clause of saying "but Covid" all you like, but that is no strong evidence to why Trump was must see, and Biden was, "yeah, whatever"
