DRIMMELEN - Will the Biesbosch be seen at the Eurovision Song Contest? The municipality of Drimmelen has registered the nature reserve to be portrayed as 'Most Beautiful place in the Netherlands' during the music festival.

At the beginning of December, the Eurovision Song Contest made an appeal to send in the most beautiful places from the Netherlands. Images of these special areas are used for the introductory videos of the 41 participants in the Eurovision Song Contest. These videos can be seen during the broadcast.

Water from all over Europe
The municipality of Drimmelen believes that the Biesbosch should not be missed because of its primal Dutch character and the diversity of plant and animal species. That is why Alderman Lieke Schuitmaker has registered the nature reserve as 'Most Beautiful place in the Netherlands'.

"The Biesbosch is a beautiful place and it doesn't get any more Dutch than this," says Schuitmaker. "In this special nature reserve, land and water have been meeting for 600 years. Large rivers that supply water from all over Europe come together here at one point. Just like that the Eurovision Song Contest is also a place where artists from all over Europe come together."

Freshwater tidal area
The story of the Biesbosch is exactly 600 years old at the time of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. In 1421 the water of the country won and since then the largest and most unique freshwater tidal area of the Netherlands has emerged step by step.

yes, but now it won't be cancelled, we got 3 scenario's


of course we aim for a normal ESC (scenario A) but scenario B one without audience, and all artists in same venue is next best thing to hope for

scenario C/D is artists performing from own venues in own country, what junior eurovision did this year

so i personally hope we get our **** together and start vaccinating, and we can opt for B at least


the postcard locations also i am excited for, biesbosch exactly 600 years of history next year, would make a nice reason to use that for ESC postcard

How dare they cancel 2020, all the hard work people put in, options c/d could have been pulled together in weeks never mind the months the organisers had to plan the 2020 show.

It such a shame we will never know who would have won, the song of 2020 were some of/if not the best ever.

4 or 5 weeks from now they will make some decisions which scenario we will go for




my province's radio dj and a esc expert here, basically discussed it now too, and they said it should be possible to at least bring all artists to one venue with private jets, and if necessary lesser members in their delegations

scenario C/D we already had a sneak preview of, with JESC2020, which would be a okay worst case scenario for this year, but everything is better than cancelling which i am happy with that won't happen again
