I've not heard of Little Miss Sunshine but looks like another really clever film with a lot of heart, will have to see if I can find it available to watch
...google is saying that Little Miss Sunshine is on Netflix atm, but I haven’t checked if that’s current...I would really so strongly recommend that you watch if you get time...

We watched Pixar's "Soul" the other day. Wonderful little movie, I actually rate it even above Inside Out.

Bizarrely... it feels aimed at adults? Like I know most Pixar films are aimed at being enjoyable for everyone and have stuff in them, but the whole story arc and theme of this one seemed aimed at the 30 - 50 demographic . My daughter enjoyed it as general entertainment but obviously the message was totally lost on her at 11.

Wolf of Wall Street - 7/10

Never seen it before because I was put off by its length but tbf it doesn't actually drag at all and is very enjoyable. I just didn't care that much for it though or for any of the characters and it's not a film I spent any time thinking about after it finished

Midnight in Paris - 7.5/10

I liked the premise a lot and I love Hemingway so the depiction of him and 20s Paris was pretty cool. Not amazingly funny or gripping but it was good light viewing

...Tag...apparently it’s a true story or based on a true story, I didn’t realise until after I’d watched it and it’s a very sweet true story...to continue a childhood game of Tag into adulthood as a way of keeping touch with friendships.....I’m not sure that it all transferred to the movie though as it would have intended to...it felt very flat to me and I didn’t completely feel the connection with the group ...there were some fun highlights though and Isla Fisher’s character......5/10...

...Pieces of a Woman......incredibly powerful and incredibly agonising in showing the pain of losing a child and the depth of grief...Vanessa Kirby and Ellen Burstyn were perfectly cast, they’re performances were immense ......the only thing for me was Shia LaBeouf and his casting ...I found one scene in particular, difficult to watch in view of his relationship with FKA Twigs and his character in the movie was just so unattractive with complete lack of any depth or any sensitivity, it was hard to see how the marriage was ever a thing in the first place...how anyone would find any attractiveness in the personality his character had...it’s still an 8/10 movie for me though, but I really didn’t like his casting in it at all...

Minority Report.
In my opinion Tom Cruise at his best.
And a great performance from Colin Farrell.

I haven't seen that one.
But Spielberg is my favourite director. He's just amazing

Goosebumps 2 - It wasn't the best film I ever watched but I still enjoyed it, a nice Sunday afternoon lazy watch. I would have liked more Jack Black in it 6/10

...Instant Family...there have been some really nice movies on Netflix over the last few months and this is one of them...it’s just a sweet, touching, uplifting movie that ticks along nicely and with a good cast...7/10...

...Green Book......such a wonderful connection with Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen, which was obviously the focus of the story and more conveyed in a light way with huge prejudice/inequalities etc of the time in the South....

...7/10...

Tremors: Shrieker Island (2020)

again very enjoyable like all other Tremors movies, this one gave me bit Jurassic Park vibes on a island

some good acting too, Michael Gross's Burt Gummer such an iconic character, also nice it had Richard Brake (GoT Night King season 5, 6) in it as a big game hunter

9.0

...Lucy......this isn’t a movie that I’d heard of but I found it on Netflix...it’s described as a French Sci Fi action movie and it really was a reasonable watch...it wasn’t amazing, it felt a bit disjointed at times and just didn’t have the flow that it could have had...and I only partly attached to the character, Lucy...she somehow felt a bit distant, rather than someone I could emotionally connect to...Scarlett Johansson was as lovely as ever, though......6/10, I would say...

Frozen II 9/10

One of the best examples of the craft of computer animation.

It loses a point because...
Spoiler:

In the film Olaf comes up with "Water has memory" and that trope is used throughout the film, right up to the end when Olaf is brought back to life.

The problem with it, is its connection to Homoeopathy. I suspect that only those aware of the claims of Homoeopathy will have heard this one. Those proponents claim that water has a memory of substances that were in it, even when they have been diluted out of existence.

Admittedly in the film they do not make reference to homoeopathic treatments whatsoever. However, because of the line "Water has memory" I suspect someone on the writing team must have had an acquaintance with homoeopathy and its claims, and was surreptitiously trying to promote it by bringing out this line of dialogue. I wonder how many people spending money on this "alternative" medicine also made the connection I did.

...Dark Waters......Mark Ruffalo is one of my favourite actors anyway and he’s just so riveting and excellent as the lawyer who takes on a huge corporation who are knowingly polluting water sources and endangering lives.../causing cancers to many and deformities to unborn children...

...it’s a true story and absolutely horrifying and terrifying but something that I hadn’t been aware of at all...because it’s such a must watch, I’ll say 9/10...

Booksmart (2019)

I couldn't sleep so stuck this on as it was recommended by Netflix.

Oh my God I thought it was brilliant, a really great and modern take on the classic "coming of age"/graduation movie. Genuinely laughed out loud at various points.

9/10.
