Because they were very much a part of the Royal family at the time and there is a mutual agreement between the Royals and the public (and press) when it comes to big occasions, which the public love to share in.
It's not a big ask, but Meghan had to shroud it all in mystery. I mean, what was the point exactly? Sheer dramatics if you ask me.
