It was reported last week that the Queen was stripping them of their patronages but would do it this way to save Meghan and Harry face. Their decision, rather than the Queen's. We all knew already they wouldn't return (as if Meghan would have the nerve to show her face here permanently!).
It's big of the Queen. She loves Harry and wouldn't want to humiliate him.

She was told by them that they wouldn’t be returning to any Royal duties so the obvious thing to do is to redistribute them between the other royals.
Hopefully now they can go about their own business as was their plan.

Fully expected.

I don't think half in half out could work.
It's like been a possibility over the last year but really not workable.

As they statement says, they remain loved members of the Royal Family.
They are now just no longer active working members of it.

So they now have the full freedom to live how they wish.
In a way they'll feel fell likely more happier and settled too.

Which is important for anyone in their life.

Of course it's sad, however this was inevitable because they've too, not it seems desired the patronages to continue either.

I do feel for the Queen, she must have felt in her twilight years, the Royal working family was in strong shape .
With William and Kate plus their children, which it remains so with them anyway.
Also with Harry and Meghan too.

However, even the Queen cannot command decency and respect from the media and thereby protect her family from gutter trash journalism and intrusion too.

So this was sad but inevitable.
I still just say good luck to Prince Harry and Meghan and I hope they find all they're searching for in their life.
That I'd wish for anyone too.

Pretty sure he was on tier 4 which is basically lockdown for his area and non essential travel was against the rules.
