Its interesting how one of the biggest forum is removing all threads on Politics, Showbiz and General Discussion and one I can never see working but they are getting a Married at First Sight forum and one dedicated to streaming services

...so does this indicate an ending for discussion forums in general, then...?..it feels like a weird decision unless that’s so ...their politics and general discussion forums are probably the busiest forums on the site ...this feels like the end of an era, very sad...

Politics I can understand but showbiz and general is a bit odd
Isn't showbiz what most of their articles are based on  Probably cost cutting. |

Politics, I cannot blame them for. It is insane how much crap politics stuff causes. Its extremely annoying, and staff can not do right for doing wrong, so nuking the section makes total sense to me really.
Showbiz is a weird one, given the forum is largely about entertainment. |

Sounds like a bad decision regarding General Discussion and Showbiz. I can see a vast decline in their traffic income, user base etc.

This does seem to a be a bit of a trend with websites viewing their discussion forums as more of a liability though. It's like how IMDB shut down their message boards and the official NFLUK website shut down its forum that I used a lot last season saying that their social media pages were the main avenue for fan interaction now
Reddit will be one of the only places left soon where you can just have 'general discussion' without the pitfalls of social media |
