Much has changed in that time, but one thing that hasn’t wavered is the Royal family’s dedication to prioritising diversity and working to improve opportunities for minority ethnic communities.

Being Lord-Lieutenant is a voluntary role, but each week I find myself doing 20-plus things for Her Majesty in her bid to modernise this country. Right now, we are looking at the structural inequality we know exists in British workplaces. The project stems from the Prince of Wales’s own personal interest and, in light of the Black Lives Matter movement, his determination to do something to improve the educational, employability and entrepreneurial opportunities available to people of minority ethnicity.

It is just one example of how, guided by the Queen, the Prince and the topics they care deeply about, we can create real change. Their sense of what issues need addressing, and their own values of respect, dignity and social cohesion, come through in everything we do. They are values that come directly from the Royal family and are entirely inconsistent with racism......ETC.....
