Yeah it only kicks in at 50, I don't think it is such a big issue because it's not as invasive or embarrassing as cervical screening, apparently its like squashing your breasts in a car door
My Aunt had breast cancer and she would regularly check herself but it was in the shower that she felt the lump and she said the lump disappeared at times when she tried to find it again
thankfully she is 5 years post treatment now and off all meds
