It is concerning, lithium is a very serious "last resort" medication for people with severe depressive disorders who have failed to respond to other medications and are at high risk of suicide. They have to monitor lithium levels in the blood constantly because it can build up and completely **** your kidneys, amongst other nasty side effects.
