Default Covid Annoynances!

So my 85 year old Aunt went to a garden lunch last week, think there were 7 or 8 of them, but now the hostess has contacted all of those present to say that one of the guests tested positive for covid, so i say to my Aunt you will need to test just to be sure as she is going this week to the opticians, the dentist and has a hospital appt for which she has arranged transport, oh no she says, we all social distanced I don't agree with this, the tests are free, available through the post or from a chemist, so why not just do it for reassurance that you are not passing anything on to anyone else?

I am annoyed!

Yeah that's very irresponsible of her if she's going to be going out (especially to places where there might be vulnerable people like the Hospital)

if she had the app she would have been pinged as a close contact and would have to go and have a PCR test, like literally she can do a 10 second test at home with a lateral flow just to be on the safe side, I am very cross about it tbh,: she will be up close and personal with the optician and dentist as well she kept telling me the woman who tested positive for covid was a pyschologist...like that mattered

yes its the educated virus , honestly I give up, we will never get cases down because despite having all the tools to keep cases down some people think it is not their responsibility, I asked her if she had any lateral flows in the house and she said no...

I have a mind to go online and order some to be sent to her house, but she might cut me out of the will

If she has been double vaccinated she doesn't have to self isolate....but the test kits are free so it doesn't hurt to be sure.

I've still managed to escape having a test done I had to do one of those antigen tests on Luke though, it's gross

My friends son tested positive recently, the parents are double vaccinated so they were able to go about their business when the test came back negative, their second son had only one vac so he had to isolate and they were contacted nearly every day by test and trace!

I thought you only have to test now as a close contact if you have symptoms?

I ordered some to be sent to my Dad's as he hadn't tested either. He is now testing once a week just to be safe as he is off out and about again.

I got used to testing twice a week during term time and now my office has asked we test if possible once a week to ensure we remain covid free in the office,

If you've been in close contact with someone who's tested positive

If you've been in close contact with someone who's tested positive for COVID-19 you can get a PCR test, whether or not you have symptoms.

What does close contact mean?
Getting tested can tell you if you had COVID-19 at the time you did the test.

If you test positive, you can help the NHS contact people who may have caught the virus from you. They can then self-isolate and avoid passing it on to others.

Logically it would make sense for her to test as she could be asymptomatic

So I still don't have my taste and smell back yet which is the weirdest covid annoyance because it's completely blank, not like when you lose them with a cold and you still have some, it's just...nothing. So I have to load my food up with salt, spices, and chilli's, and I have to have about 4 or 5 sugars in my tea, because I can tell sweetness, saltiness, and heat. Absolutely nothing else. Also have weird constant aching pains in my legs below the knees.

Around mid-august, but the leg pains only came after the rest of my symptoms cleared up so probably about a week later. Took an extra week to get rid of my temperature, too.

it can cause all sorts of weird **** to happen, but i think the vast majority make a good recovery, it's just the timescale to that is a bit open ended

I get chronic sinusitis with most colds and it's the same (zero sense of taste and smell, might as well be chewing on cardboard) and I hate it... it makes me genuinely miserable. I get properly down about it. But that usually only lasts 2 - 3 days, the longest I think was about 9 days (I got paranoid that it was forever on about day 6).

I can't imagine it going on for weeks/months ... I'd lose a tonne of weight and muscle mass... my wife has to remind me to eat when it happens because I just can't be bothered sitting chewing away on what feels like nothing. I end up just eating dry slices of bread or a handful of crackers because why bother making anything?
